When we went to an informational session about baptism over a year ago for Kadie, Violet was disappointed that she wasn’t old enough to get baptized. She really wanted to get baptized. Now that she turned eight years old this summer, she seized her opportunity.

Over a course of a month, Violet went on a quest through a class led by Pastor Todd about who God is, what baptism is, and why she would want to be baptized.

I am so proud of her to take this step in her faith journey. Her courage surprises me, and inspires me to be public with my faith. The gift of Jesus is too good to keep to ourselves.

On the night of her baptism, she was surrounded by her family and friends. Per her request, I joined her in the baptismal tank in the honor of baptizing her myself.

Violet’s Testimony

My name is Violet and I am 8 years old. I decided to follow Jesus when I was 3 years old because my parents believed since they read the Bible everyday and prayed before we ate.

But I didn’t exactly believe. As I grew up, I got to know the Lord better.

Now that I have Jesus in my life, one whisper of His name, a comforting wave comes washing over me. What really inspired me was watching other people get baptized. As they were baptized, I felt like I needed to be the person being baptized.

My favorite verses are in Revelations because I think heaven and the plagues are fascinating.

After she gave her testimony, Pastor Todd and I baptized her in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. After she rose from the waters, she was prayed over by her family and friends.

It was hard not to get teary-eyed as the children shared their faith and trust in the Lord to take this step. God is amazing.
